Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has thrown his full support behind Vinícius Júnior’s celebrations after the Brazilian inspired Los Blancos to qualification for the UEFA Champions League knockout stage, insisting the forward should continue dancing as long as he keeps scoring.
Speaking after Madrid secured their place in the Round of 16, Courtois praised Vinícius’ decisive impact and personality on the pitch.
“I’m happy Vini Jr. danced. Let him keep dancing, because that means he’s scoring goals,” Courtois said in his post-match interview.
Vinícius was once again decisive for the Spanish giants, continuing his outstanding form in Europe and underlining his importance to Madrid’s attacking success.
The Brazilian forward’s resurgence has coincided with the influence of coach Álvaro Arbeloa, under whom Vinícius has registered 7 goals, 2 assists, 10 matches.
His performances have helped stabilize Madrid’s European campaign and ensure safe passage into the knockout rounds.
Vinícius’ goals in key fixtures, including the decisive strike against Benfica, have reaffirmed his status as one of the club’s most important players this season.
Courtois also made a light-hearted but telling remark about the upcoming Round of 16 draw, suggesting Real Madrid could once again face their recent European rivals Manchester City.
“We’ll draw Man City again on Friday, we know it,” Courtois said with a smile.
Real Madrid and Manchester City have developed one of the Champions League’s defining modern rivalries, facing each other repeatedly in recent knockout rounds.
