Franck Kessié was named Most Valuable Player of the AFC Champions League Elite Finals Jeddah 2026 after leading Al-Ahli Saudi FC to a 1–0 extra-time victory over FC Machida Zelvia in Saturday’s final.
Kessié delivered a commanding midfield performance, controlling the tempo and anchoring his side even as Al-Ahli were reduced to 10 men, before playing a decisive role in the match-winning goal scored by Feras Al-Brikan.
The breakthrough came in extra time, with Kessié’s composure and precise touch setting up Al-Brikan to fire home and secure back-to-back continental titles for the Saudi champions.
The Ivorian international capped an outstanding tournament with his display in the final, having been a consistent presence throughout the campaign. He started nine of Al-Ahli’s 13 matches and contributed three goals, including a crucial equalizer in the quarter-final against Johor Darul Ta’zim that kept their title defence alive.
Known more for his physicality and control than goal-scoring, the former AC Milan and Barcelona midfielder once again proved his value in decisive moments, combining discipline with technical quality on the biggest stage.
His influence in both this season and last year’s title-winning run underlines his importance to Al-Ahli’s growing dominance in Asian football, as the club successfully defended their AFC Champions League Elite crown.
