Como 1907 have qualified for the UEFA Champions League for the first time in the club’s history after securing a top-four finish in the 2025–26 Serie A season under head coach Cesc Fàbregas.
Como sealed qualification with a 4-1 victory over U.S. Cremonese on the final day of the campaign, completing one of the most dramatic rises in recent Italian football.
The result confirmed that Como will join Inter Milan, S.S.C. Napoli and AS Roma in next season’s Champions League. Meanwhile, Juventus FC and AC Milan missed out on Europe’s top competition and will instead play in the UEFA Europa League after disappointing finishes on the final day.
Fàbregas, the former Arsenal FC, FC Barcelona and Chelsea FC midfielder, has overseen Como’s rapid transformation from a recently promoted side into a Champions League qualifier in barely two seasons. The club returned to Serie A in 2024 after a 21-year absence and has now achieved its highest modern-era finish.
Como’s qualification represents a historic shift in Italian football’s balance of power. Reuters described the outcome as a “seismic shift” after both Milan and Juventus failed to reach the Champions League for the first time in decades, while Como, a club that was playing in Italy’s lower divisions less than a decade ago, completed its rise to Europe’s elite competition.
Speaking after qualification was confirmed, Fàbregas described the achievement as a landmark moment for the club and its supporters, with celebrations erupting among players and fans at full-time.
