Although FIFA has dismissed claims that President Gianni Infantino guaranteed Morocco the 2030 FIFA World Cup final, sources within the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) have confirmed that discussions have taken place regarding the possibility of staging the final in Casablanca.
According to reports, Moroccan officials remain eager for the country’s proposed Hassan II Stadium near Casablanca to host the tournament’s showpiece event. The planned venue is expected to become one of the world’s largest football stadiums and has been central to Morocco’s ambitions since it secured co-hosting rights alongside Spain and Portugal.
Spain, however, is also making a strong case. Spanish football authorities are pushing for the final to be played at Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, arguing that its global profile, infrastructure and recent redevelopment make it the natural choice for football’s biggest match. The Bernabéu has long featured in Spain’s plans for the tournament and remains a leading contender.
The debate intensified after media reports suggested Infantino had offered Morocco the prestigious final in exchange for political support during a period of growing opposition to his leadership within FIFA. Those reports have been strongly denied by FIFA, which insists no such promise was made and that the selection process remains ongoing.
