Brazilian forward Gabriel Jesus has officially completed his move from Arsenal to Barcelona, signing a contract that will keep him at the Catalan club until 30 June 2029.
Barcelona confirmed the agreement with Arsenal on Tuesday, bringing the 29-year-old striker to the club for the 2026/27 season. The transfer marks Jesus’ return to La Liga after several seasons in the Premier League.
Jesus, who joined Arsenal from Manchester City in 2022, made 123 appearances for the Gunners before completing his move to Barcelona. Arsenal also officially confirmed his departure on a permanent transfer.
Speaking at his presentation, Jesus revealed that the opportunity emerged surprisingly quickly, saying he received the call about the possibility of joining Barcelona only a week earlier.
“I knew that by doing things right, anything could happen. I’ve always worked hard and respected everything at Arsenal.”
The Brazilian said he was delighted when the move became a realistic possibility and described joining Barcelona as a dream opportunity.
Jesus began his senior career at Palmeiras before moving to Manchester City in 2016. During his time with City, he made 236 appearances, scoring 95 goals and providing 45 assists,.
His arrival continues Barcelona’s long-standing tradition of Brazilian attacking talent and gives head coach Hansi Flick another experienced option in the forward line as the club targets domestic and European success.
Barcelona have now formally presented Jesus as a first-team player, with the striker expressing his ambition to contribute to the squad and compete for major honours, including the Champions League.
