Michael Olise scored twice as Bayern Munich opened their 2026/27 UEFA Champions League campaign in emphatic fashion, beating Norwegian champions Bodø/Glimt 5–0 at the Allianz Arena.
The French international struck in the 83rd minute and again in stoppage time to complete a dominant second-half display, after Bayern had struggled to break down their visitors before the interval.
Jamal Musiala finally broke the deadlock two minutes into the second half, before Harry Kane headed in Bayern’s second in the 61st minute from an Olise delivery. Alphonso Davies then made it 3–0 with a powerful half-volley before Olise took centre stage with his late double.
Bayern had dominated possession and territory during the opening period but were frustrated by Bodø/Glimt goalkeeper Nikita Haikin, who made several important saves to keep the Norwegian side level.
The breakthrough changed the contest. Once Musiala found the net, Bayern’s attacking quality began to overwhelm Bodø/Glimt, with the visitors eventually unable to withstand the sustained pressure.
Olise’s second goal came after Bodø/Glimt defender Odin Bjørtuft was sent off for a foul on the winger, who then capitalised on a poor pass to complete his brace.
The performance earned Olise the Man of the Match award, while his contribution also included the assist for Kane’s goal. Bayern’s official reaction confirmed the winger’s importance to the victory, although Olise remained typically understated when discussing his performance.
“Obviously it’s the first game, at home as well. We wanted to win and in the end we did win, so we’re happy,” Olise said after the match.
The victory also extended Bayern’s remarkable record of winning their Champions League opening fixture, with the German giants maintaining their long-standing consistency at the beginning of Europe’s premier club competition.
For Vincent Kompany, the most encouraging aspect was the way Bayern eventually turned patience into a decisive attacking performance.
Bodø/Glimt coach Kjetil Knutsen acknowledged that his side had executed its first-half plan effectively but admitted Bayern’s quality became too much after the break, particularly following the injury to Haikin.
Bayern therefore begin their European campaign with five goals, a clean sheet and an emphatic reminder of their attacking strength, while Olise emerges as one of the night’s outstanding performers.
