Shooting Stars’ CAF Confederation Cup journey has come to an end after CS Sfaxien secured a 2–0 home victory to eliminate the Nigerian representatives 2–1 on aggregate.
The Oluyole Warriors had taken a 1–0 lead into the second leg following Lucky Emmanuel’s match-winning goal in Abeokuta. The Nigerian club’s advantage, however, proved insufficient as the Tunisian outfit responded strongly in front of its home supporters.
CS Sfaxien levelled the tie on the night in the 27th minute when Iyed Belwafi found the breakthrough. Youssef Habchia then scored in the 68th minute to give the hosts a two-goal lead and put them ahead on aggregate.
Shooting Stars were unable to find a response as Sfaxien protected their advantage until the final whistle, completing a 2–1 aggregate success.
The defeat brings an early end to Shooting Stars’ continental campaign, despite the club’s positive start in the opening leg.
For CS Sfaxien, the result marks a successful turnaround after the first-leg setback and sends the Tunisian club into the next phase of the CAF Confederation Cup.
