Sevilla FC and Rayo Vallecano shared the spoils in a 1–1 draw in their La Liga clash at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán Stadium on Sunday.
Sevilla took the lead early in the contest when Nigerian striker Akor Adams headed home from close range in the 12th minute after a teasing cross from veteran defender César Azpilicueta. The well-placed delivery found Adams inside the box, and the forward powered a header past the goalkeeper to give the hosts the advantage.
The home side looked comfortable after the opener and threatened to double their lead before halftime, but Rayo Vallecano remained competitive and maintained possession for long spells without creating clear chances.
The visitors responded shortly after the break, drawing level in the 49th minute through Alfonso Espino. The defender struck from distance, sending a powerful effort past the Sevilla goalkeeper to restore parity for the Madrid side.
Both teams pushed for a winner in the closing stages, with Sevilla relying on set-piece opportunities while Rayo searched for openings on the counterattack. Despite several promising moments for each side, neither team could find a decisive goal.
The result leaves both clubs still looking to create distance from the lower half of the La Liga table as the season enters its decisive phase.
