Nigeria’s Super Eagles delivered a commanding performance to defeat Mozambique 4–0 in the Round of 16 at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), securing their place in the quarterfinals.
Ademola Lookman opened the scoring in the 20th minute, finishing a well-constructed team move. Victor Osimhen doubled the lead five minutes later with a close-range strike, giving Nigeria a 2–0 advantage at halftime.
Osimhen added his second goal early in the second half, capitalizing on a defensive error. Akor Adams completed the rout in the 75th minute, converting a pass from Lookman to make it 4–0.
The Super Eagles dominated possession and limited Mozambique’s opportunities, showcasing their attacking prowess and defensive solidity. This victory marks Nigeria’s most comprehensive win in the tournament so far.
Nigeria will face the winner between DR Congo and Algeria in the quarterfinals, setting up a highly anticipated clash between either of the two teams.
