Akor Adams delivered another decisive moment for Sevilla after scoring the winning goal in a thrilling 3-2 comeback victory over Villarreal to boost the club’s La Liga survival hopes.
The Nigerian striker struck in the 72nd minute at the Estadio de la Cerámica, completing a remarkable turnaround after Sevilla had fallen two goals behind early in the contest.
Villarreal appeared to be cruising toward victory after goals from Gerard Moreno and Georges Mikautadze inside the opening 20 minutes put the hosts firmly in control.
However, Sevilla responded brilliantly before halftime, with Oso reducing the deficit before Kike Salas equalized to completely change the momentum of the match.
Adams then emerged as the match winner in the second half, firing home from inside the area to seal one of Sevilla’s biggest victories of the season and extend the club’s winning streak to three consecutive league games.
The result moved Sevilla further away from the relegation zone and ended Villarreal’s six-match home winning run in La Liga.
Adams’ latest strike also continued his outstanding recent form, with the Nigerian now scoring match-winning goals in consecutive matches for the Andalusian side.
The goal took the 26-year-old to double figures in La Liga this season, making him one of only a select group of Nigerian players to reach 10 goals in a single Spanish top-flight campaign.
Spanish media described Sevilla’s comeback as one of the club’s most emotionally charged performances of the season, especially after weeks spent battling relegation pressure.
Adams joined Sevilla from Montpellier in January 2025 and has rapidly become one of the team’s most influential players since arriving in Spain.
