Al Ahly Hold JS Kabylie to Goalless Draw, Secure CAF Champions League Quarter-Final Spot

Al Ahly have officially booked their place in the 2025/26 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League quarter-finals after a disciplined 0–0 draw away to JS Kabylie in Group B action on Saturday. The result was enough for the Egyptian giants to progress to the knockout stages with one matchday still to play.

At the Hocine Aït Ahmed Stadium in Tizi Ouzou, both sides battled through a tactical, tightly contested encounter that ultimately produced no goals, as Al Ahly did just enough to secure the point they needed.

The game was a battle of strategy and resilience rather than attacking flair. JS Kabylie came closest to breaking the deadlock, creating several promising opportunities and hitting the woodwork in the first half. However, the Algerian side couldn’t convert their chances.

Al Ahly, for their part, defended with organisation and composure, absorbing pressure and managing the game effectively to preserve the clean sheet that confirmed their advancement.

Despite Kabylie’s stronger attacking intent at times, they were unable to find a breakthrough against a compact Al Ahly back line. Al Ahly’s experienced defence and game management saw them protect the vital point needed to mathematically secure progression.

The draw, coupled with results elsewhere in Group B, ensured Al Ahly cannot be caught in the standings and will head into the quarter-finals as one of Africa’s most successful clubs. JS Kabylie’s hopes of reaching the knockout stages were extinguished by the result, leaving them unable to climb into the qualifying positions.
