Arokodare’s Historic Header Not Enough as Wolves Fall to Arsenal in Dramatic Finish

In a match filled with late drama, Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Tolu Arokodare scored his first Premier League goal, becoming the first Nigerian to do so for the club. However, his 90th-minute equalizer was overshadowed by a stoppage-time own goal, leading to a 2–1 defeat against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on December 13, 2025.

Arsenal initially took the lead in the 70th minute when Bukayo Saka’s corner deflected off the crossbar and Wolves goalkeeper Sam Johnstone, resulting in an own goal.

Arokodare, introduced as a substitute, made an immediate impact by heading in Mateus Mané’s cross, leveling the score in the 90th minute.

Despite this, Arsenal secured victory in stoppage time when Yerson Mosquera inadvertently headed Saka’s cross into his own net under pressure from Gabriel Jesus.

The loss leaves Wolves at the bottom of the Premier League table, still seeking their first win of the season.

Arokodare’s goal, while historic, was not enough to change the outcome of the match.
