Arteta Furious as Arsenal Blow Two-Goal Lead, Admit Title Slip Fears After Wolves Stalemate

Arsenal F.C. manager Mikel Arteta has expressed deep frustration after his side squandered a two-goal advantage to draw 2–2 against Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C., admitting the result could damage their Premier League title push.

Speaking after Tuesday’s clash at Molineux Stadium, Arteta said Arsenal “gave two points away” and conceded their second-half performance fell far below the standards required to win the title.

“Incredibly disappointed that we gave two points away,” Arteta told Sky Sports. “I think we need to fault ourselves and give credit to Wolves. But what we did in the second half was nowhere near our standards that we have to play in order to win a game in the Premier League.”

The damaging draw saw Arsenal miss the opportunity to move seven points clear of closest rivals Manchester City F.C., intensifying pressure in the title race.

Arteta admitted his team lost control due to poor execution of basic principles.

“Certain basics we have to do we did them so poorly,” he said. “One after the other. And then you have no dominance, no control in the game.”

Despite dominating the first half and building a comfortable lead, Arsenal collapsed after the break, allowing the league’s bottom-placed side back into the contest.

The dropped points continue a worrying trend, with Arsenal losing 11 points in eight matches in 2026, significantly weakening their grip at the top of the table.

Arteta, however, insisted he would rally his players to prevent the season from slipping away.

“I will stay close to the group and keep reminding them how good they are,” he said.

The result leaves Arsenal vulnerable in the title race, with momentum now threatening to swing toward their closest challengers.
