After Arsenal’s 2–0 loss to Manchester City** in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley Stadium, manager Mikel Arteta spoke with reporters about the defeat, offering praise for his rival while underlining his belief in Arsenal’s potential for the remainder of the season.
City secured their ninth League Cup title with a second‑half double from 21‑year‑old Nico O’Reilly, but it was the response from Arteta that drew attention in the post‑match press room.
“Congratulations to Man City for winning the trophy,” Arteta said, acknowledging the performance of Pep Guardiola’s side on the day. He did not dwell on frustration, choosing instead to focus on the lessons the defeat could provide.
Arteta emphasized that setbacks like this can fuel determination rather than diminish it. “We have to prepare now and use that fire in the belly to have two incredible months at the end of the season,” he added — signalling his intent to channel disappointment into renewed focus for Arsenal’s remaining competitions.
While this loss was a blow to Arsenal’s ambitions and extended the club’s hunt for major silverware since the 2020 FA Cup, Arteta’s remarks suggested a forward‑looking mindset. Arsenal remain strong contenders in both the Premier League and Champions League as they seek to turn promising form into tangible success.
