Arthur Okonkwo Cleared to Represent Super Eagles Following FIFA Approval

In a significant boost for Nigeria’s national football team, FIFA has officially approved goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo’s request to switch his international allegiance from England to Nigeria. This decision makes the 24-year-old Wrexham shot-stopper eligible for selection by Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle in upcoming international fixtures.

Born in Camden, England, to Nigerian parents, Okonkwo previously represented England at youth levels, including the U16, U17, and U18 teams. However, under FIFA regulations, players who have not played a competitive match for a senior national team can request a one-time switch if they meet eligibility criteria through heritage. Okonkwo’s application was recently approved, allowing him to don the green and white of Nigeria. [1]Plus
