Nottingham Forest continued their fight to stay clear of the Premier League relegation zone with a 2-0 away victory over Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Forest took the lead early in the match through Igor Jesus, who scored in the 13th minute to give Sean Dyche’s side an important advantage on the road. The visitors then held firm against Brentford’s forward pressure before securing the win late thanks to Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi, who found the net in the 79th minute to double Forest’s lead and seal all three points.
Awoniyi’s goal not only extended Forest’s advantage but also underscored his value in crucial fixtures. The Nigerian forward poked home his effort with confidence after sustained pressure from Forest, giving his team breathing room and helping them maintain a critical five-point gap above the relegation places.
The win marked an important result for Nottingham Forest, who have struggled for consistency this season. The victory lifts Forest up the Premier League table and offers a much-needed boost as they look to secure another season in England’s top flight.
