Taiwo Awoniyi emerged as the defining figure off the bench as Nottingham Forest stunned Tottenham Hotspur with a ruthless 3-0 victory in a high-stakes Premier League clash at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
In a result that sent shockwaves through the relegation battle, Forest delivered a clinical, composed performance—while Spurs crumbled under pressure on home soil.
Tottenham started brightly and created early chances, but their inability to convert proved costly.
Forest struck first on the stroke of half-time, with Igor Jesus heading home to silence the home crowd. The visitors doubled their lead in the 62nd minute through Morgan Gibbs-White, who capped a flowing move he helped initiate.
From there, the game slipped completely out of Spurs’ control.
Introduced late in the game, Awoniyi made an instant impact—putting the result beyond doubt in the 87th minute with a composed finish to make it 3-0.
But beyond the goal, it was the symbolism that stood out.
After scoring, the Nigerian striker revealed a message on his shirt:
“God is the Greatest.”
It was a moment of personal expression and belief—capping a performance that underlined his importance to Forest’s survival push.
The goal also ended a difficult spell for the striker, who had struggled for minutes and form in recent weeks but seized his opportunity emphatically.
The result carries huge consequences at the bottom of the table. Forest’s victory lifts them above Tottenham and boosts their survival hopes, while Spurs’ alarming slide continues, with the club now deep in relegation danger after an extended winless run.
Fan frustration was evident, with boos echoing around the stadium as the final whistle confirmed another damaging defeat.
