Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey scored his first Premier League goal of the season as Fulham secured a historic 3–2 victory over Burnley at Turf Moor, marking their first win at the ground since 1951.
Bassey’s goal came in the 31st minute, restoring Fulham’s lead after Burnley had equalized. Harry Wilson’s corner was initially cleared, but he quickly recycled the ball back into the box, where Bassey rose highest to head home from close range.
This goal was Bassey’s first in the Premier League since February, when he scored in a 2–1 away win against Manchester United.
The match also saw significant contributions from other Nigerian players. Samuel Chukwueze provided the assist for Fulham’s third goal, threading a precise pass to Harry Wilson, who calmly finished to extend Fulham’s lead to 3–1.
Despite a late goal from Burnley’s Oliver Sonne, Fulham held on to secure all three points. The victory lifts Fulham to 13th place in the Premier League standings with 20 points, providing a buffer from the relegation zone.
Manager Marco Silva praised his team’s performance, highlighting the significance of breaking the long-standing winless record at Turf Moor. The contributions of Bassey and Chukwueze were instrumental in securing this historic win for Fulham.
