Bayern Munich midfielder Ismael Saibari is facing an extended spell on the sidelines after undergoing successful surgery on a torn syndesmotic ligament in his right ankle.
The German champions confirmed the Moroccan international’s injury on Sunday, November 1, revealing that he sustained the damage during their 2-2 Bundesliga draw against Borussia Dortmund the previous day.
Saibari was forced off following a collision with Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel and was subsequently diagnosed with a tear to the ligament stabilising his right ankle.
Although Bayern did not specify a recovery timeline, reports from Germany indicate that the 25-year-old could be out for at least three months, potentially ruling him out for the remainder of 2026 and pushing his return towards February 2027.
According to SPORT1, the midfielder is expected to miss around three months, with a comeback likely after the winter break. Bild has also reported a lengthy recovery period.
The setback represents a significant blow for Bayern, who are already managing several injury concerns as they navigate their domestic and European campaigns.
Saibari has now begun his rehabilitation following surgery, with the club expected to take a cautious approach to his recovery rather than rush him back into action.
The midfielder also offered an encouraging update from hospital, confirming that the operation had gone well and expressing his determination to return to the pitch as soon as possible.
Bayern will hope for a full recovery as they prepare for the remainder of the season without one of their Moroccan midfield options.
