Bayern Run Riot as Olise Stars in 6–1 Champions League Demolition of Atalanta

FC Bayern Munich delivered a ruthless performance in Italy, crushing Atalanta B.C. 6–1 in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 clash, with Michael Olise producing a sensational display that earned him UEFA Man of the Match honours.

The French winger was the standout performer of the night, finishing with two goals and one assist as Bayern overwhelmed the Serie A side at the Stadio di Bergamo and moved a step closer to the quarter-finals.

Bayern seized control early in the contest, opening the scoring in the 12th minute through defender Josip Stanišić. The German champions doubled their lead ten minutes later when Olise cut inside from the right and fired a precise left-footed strike into the far corner.

The visitors’ dominance continued as Serge Gnabry made it 3–0, finishing a well-worked move after being set up by Olise. Bayern’s relentless attacking play left Atalanta struggling to cope with the pace and precision of their opponents.

After the break, Bayern maintained their intensity. Nicolas Jackson added a fourth before Olise struck again midway through the second half, completing his brace and effectively sealing the result. Jamal Musiala later joined the scoresheet to extend the lead, while Atalanta managed only a late consolation goal through Mario Pašalić.

The emphatic victory leaves Bayern firmly in control of the tie ahead of the return leg in Munich, with the German giants placing one foot in the Champions League quarter-finals.

For Olise, the match was another statement performance in what has been a remarkable season for the former Crystal Palace winger, whose creativity and finishing proved decisive in Bayern’s commanding European triumph.
