By Kazeem Ajibola Shoyebo

The quarter-final fixtures of the CAF Champions League have been confirmed, with African heavyweights Al Ahly, Esperance of Tunisia, and Mamelodi Sundowns handed high-stakes clashes as the race for continental supremacy intensifies.

According to the confirmed pairings, Moroccan side RS Berkane will face Sudan’s Al Hilal SC, while Tunisian giants ES Tunis are drawn against record champions Al Ahly of Egypt. South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns will take on Mali’s Stade Malien, and Morocco’s AS FAR will battle Egyptian club Pyramids FC for a place in the semi-finals.

The fixtures set up several blockbuster encounters, particularly the North African derby between Esperance and Al Ahly, two of the most successful clubs in CAF competition history. Al Ahly, widely regarded as Africa’s most decorated club, will be aiming to extend their dominance, while Esperance seek revenge after recent continental setbacks.

Mamelodi Sundowns, former champions and perennial contenders, face a tricky assignment against Stade Malien, who have emerged as one of the competition’s surprise packages. Meanwhile, AS FAR’s clash with ambitious Egyptian side Pyramids FC promises to be closely contested, given both teams’ recent rise in African football.

RS Berkane’s tie against Al Hilal SC also offers intrigue, as both clubs boast strong continental pedigree and passionate fan bases eager for success.

The quarter-final matches will be played over two legs, with the winners advancing to the semi-finals as the battle for Africa’s most prestigious club trophy enters its decisive phase.
