CAF President Motsepe Arrives in Senegal for Football Talks and State Meeting

Patrice Motsepe, president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), arrived in Senegal on Tuesday for a high-profile visit that includes meetings with football officials and state leaders as part of efforts to strengthen relations with the West African football powerhouse.

Motsepe was welcomed in Dakar by officials from the Senegal Football Federation, led by federation president Abdoulaye Fall, alongside senior figures in Senegalese football.

During the visit, Motsepe is expected to tour the federation’s newly constructed headquarters and hold talks with football administrators on the development of the sport in Senegal and across the region.

His itinerary also includes a visit to Gorée Island, the UNESCO World Heritage site off the coast of Dakar, before returning to the capital for an official meeting with Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye.

CAF said Motsepe is also scheduled to address the media during the visit, where he is expected to discuss football development initiatives and broader continental priorities.

The trip comes as CAF continues to deepen engagement with member associations and national governments as part of Motsepe’s push to expand football infrastructure and investment across Africa.

Senegal remains one of the continent’s leading football nations, having won the **2021 Africa Cup of Nations** and consistently ranked among Africa’s top-performing teams in recent years.

Motsepe’s visit is expected to reinforce ties between CAF and one of its most influential member federations.
