Canada secured a crucial 3–2 victory over Norway on Wednesday to claim their first points at the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco.
Reed Tingley scored twice before Adalyn Dawn Fairweather netted the decisive goal, helping Canada recover from their opening-match defeat to Brazil and strengthen their position in Group C.
Tingley opened the scoring in the 15th minute before converting a penalty in the 32nd to give Canada a two-goal advantage. Norway reduced the deficit through Stine Ariell Klæboe-Solemdal in first-half stoppage time, leaving the contest finely poised at the break.
Fairweather restored Canada’s two-goal cushion in the 78th minute, but Norway responded six minutes later through Hanne Aarrestad Nesse to set up a tense closing period.
Canada held on to secure the victory, ending their opening-match disappointment after losing 6–2 to Brazil on October 18.
The result gives Canada a valuable boost in Group C, where Norway had begun their campaign with a 3–0 victory over Ghana. Canada will next face Ghana on October 24, while Norway take on Brazil on the same day as the group-stage race for qualification continues.
