Inter Toronto Football Club midfielder Shola Jimoh* has been officially included in the Canada Men’s National Team (CANMNT) squad for the upcoming January training camp as part of Canada Soccer’s “Road to 2026” build‑up ahead of the FIFA World Cup™️ next summer.
Jimoh, a 17‑year‑old midfielder and one of the standout young talents from the Canadian Premier League, was named among a 20‑player roster that will convene for a 10‑day camp from 8-18 January in Irvine, California. The camp forms part of the team’s early preparations ahead of Canada’s participation as co‑hosts of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The CANMNT training camp will be led by head coach Jesse Marsch and his technical staff, and will include a Tier 1 international friendly against Guatemala at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles on 17 January, a match that will count toward the FIFA Men’s World Rankings.
Jimoh’s inclusion underscores his rapid rise within Canada’s football pathway. He has represented Canada at youth levels, including the FIFA U‑17 World Cup, and becomes one of the youngest players in the senior camp, joining a mix of Major League Soccer and Canadian Premier League players in the squad.
Canada Soccer’s January camp is designed to give North American‑based players, many currently out of club season, the opportunity to impress the coaching staff and stake their claim for inclusion in future competitive windows leading toward the 2026 World Cup.
