Premier League side Chelsea F.C. have confirmed that promising academy midfielder Landon Emenalo has signed a new long-term contract that will keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2031.
The club announced the extension in an official statement, noting that the highly rated teenager will continue his development with the Blues after progressing through their youth ranks.
“Chelsea Football Club is pleased to announce that Academy defender Landon Emenalo has signed a new contract, keeping him at the club until at least 2031,” the club said.
The 18-year-old midfielder, who celebrated his birthday in January, has already taken steps toward first-team involvement. He has been included in the senior matchday squad twice this season, including during Chelsea’s UEFA Champions League league-phase victory over Pafos FC.
Emenalo is widely regarded as one of the promising talents emerging from Chelsea’s Cobham academy. Having first joined the club as an Under-8, he later spent time at AS Monaco before returning to Chelsea as an Under-13 and continuing his development within the academy system.
Football pedigree also runs deep in the Emenalo family. Landon is the son of former Michael Emenalo, who represented Nigeria national football team at international level and later served as Chelsea’s influential technical director before moving into football administration roles abroad.
At international level, the young midfielder has represented both the United States U17 national team and the England U17 national team in youth competitions, highlighting his dual eligibility.
Despite those appearances, Emenalo remains eligible to represent Nigeria national football team at senior level in the future.
Chelsea’s decision to secure the teenager on a long-term deal underscores the club’s continued commitment to developing homegrown talents from its academy as part of its long-term squad planning.
