Ousmane Dembélé has publicly questioned his teammates’ commitment following Paris Saint‑Germain’s 3-1 defeat to Stade Rennais, prompting a swift and firm response from manager Luis Enrique.
Speaking after the Ligue 1 loss, Dembélé said PSG must show “more desire” and prioritise the club over individual interests if they are to win major honours this season. He warned that playing for personal glory rather than the team would undermine their title ambitions.
“We must show more desire, above all play for Paris Saint-Germain to win matches,” Dembélé said. “If everyone plays for themselves, it’s not going to work and we’re not going to win the titles we want.”
The France international pointed to last season as an example, saying the squad succeeded because players consistently put the club first.
However, Luis Enrique dismissed Dembélé’s remarks, insisting no individual is bigger than PSG and attributing the comments to post-match frustration.
“The comments about some of my players after this match have no value for me,” the Spanish coach said. “I will never allow a player to be above the club. These comments come from frustration.”
The exchange highlights growing tension around the French champions following the defeat, which has intensified scrutiny on PSG’s performances and unity as they pursue domestic and European success this season.
