Young Nigerian striker Rafiu Durosinmi made an immediate impact for Pisa SC in their 1–1 Serie A draw against Atalanta on Friday, scoring a dramatic late equalizer in what was a standout performance in just his first league appearance for the club.
The match at Arena Garibaldi – Stadio Romeo Anconetani unfolded as a tense contest, with Atalanta taking the lead in the 83rd minute through Nikola Krstović, who reacted quickest to a loose ball in the box and fired home.
However, Pisa responded almost immediately. Entering the fray as a substitute, Durosinmi rose powerfully to head in a cross from Mehdi Léris in the 87th minute, restoring parity and keeping Pisa’s push for survival in Serie A alive.
The draw marked only Pisa’s second home goal of the season and their 11th stalemate in Serie A, highlighting the importance of Durosinmi’s intervention in a match that had looked set for a narrow Atalanta victory.
Durosinmi’s contribution, a well-timed header that left Atalanta’s goalkeeper with no chance, was widely praised in match reports, with analysts highlighting the significance of his debut strike in lifting team morale and earning a vital point.
Atalanta, sitting in the top half of the Serie A table, had enjoyed a stronger run with recent victories before this fixture, but were unable to hold onto their lead after Durosinmi’s late flourish.
For Pisa, who remain in the relegation zone, the draw offers a small but valuable boost in their fight to stay up, with Durosinmi’s goal perhaps setting the tone for the club’s hopes in the coming weeks.
