El-Kanemi Warriors secured their place in the next round of the CAF Confederation Cup after a 3–1 aggregate victory over União Desportiva Internacional de Bissau, despite losing 1–0 in the second leg in Guinea-Bissau.
The Maiduguri-based side carried a commanding 3–0 advantage from the first leg, played at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, and did enough in the return fixture to progress to the next stage of the competition.
The Nigerian representatives will now face Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca in a decisive tie for a place in the Confederation Cup group stage.
The first leg is scheduled to take place in Ikenne between October 16 and 18, while the return leg will be played in Casablanca between October 23 and 25.
Raja Casablanca, however, represents a significantly stronger test, with El-Kanemi expected to draw on the advantage of playing the first leg on home soil before travelling to Morocco for the decisive return fixture.
