“We Shall Create a Powerful Match Day Atmosphere, With Coordinated Chants” — Okumagba Vows as Nigeria Supporters Club Gears Up for AFCON 2025

By Kazeem Ajibola Shoyebo

As anticipation builds ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) kicking off this weekend in Morocco, Vincent Okumagba, Chairman of the Interim Management Committee (IMC) of the Nigeria Supporters Club, has declared that the group is fully prepared to energize the Super Eagles with vibrant support throughout the tournament.

In an exclusive interview with JerseyNumber12, Okumagba emphasized the club’s plans to create an electrifying match-day atmosphere aimed at inspiring the team to continental glory.

“Yes, we are known for our vibrant outfits, singing and dancing,”* he said. *“All these will be consistent, with a few innovations. Our band team will be united in their drumming, we’ll have more coordinated trumpeting, and our cultural side attraction teams will showcase Nigeria’s rich heritage across Morocco.”

Okumagba underscored the importance of large fan presence at the tournament, revealing that many supporters have already secured visas and travel documents.

“Our presence alone is a morale booster. We shall create a powerful match day atmosphere with coordinated chants, drums, trumpets, singing, dancing, flags and colorful apparel,” he declared.

Acknowledging the power of faith, Okumagba noted that the club will also organize prayer sessions for the Super Eagles.

“We are a praying nation. We believe in doing everything within our power—spiritually and physically—to help the team bring home the trophy,” he said.

He confirmed that several members are set to depart Nigeria by December 21, while others are awaiting promised logistical support from the National Sports Commission (NSC).

In his message to the Super Eagles, Okumagba challenged the players to lift national spirits after missing out on the 2026 World Cup.

“Nigerians are unhappy that we won’t be at the World Cup again. This is shameful for a country as big and blessed as Nigeria. The AFCON is a chance to redeem that. Let’s make Nigerians proud.”

To fans across the globe, he urged unwavering support:

“Support the team. Pray for them. It costs us a lot to follow and cheer the Super Eagles, but it’s worth it. Let’s go for victory!”
