Nigeria international Alex Iwobi scored his first Premier League goal of the season to secure Fulham a crucial 1–0 victory over Hull City at Craven Cottage on Saturday.
The Super Eagles midfielder struck in the 33rd minute, finishing a move involving Sander Berge to give Fulham the lead. His low effort took a deflection before slipping underneath Hull goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis.
The goal proved decisive as Fulham held on to claim their first league victory of the 2026/27 campaign after six matches without a win. The result also gave head coach Álvaro Arbeloa his first Premier League win since taking charge of the London club.
Iwobi had been influential in Fulham’s attacking play despite struggling to register a goal contribution earlier in the campaign. According to PUNCH Sports Extra, he had created 13 chances in his first six league appearances without scoring or providing an assist.
The midfielder came close to adding a second after the interval, but Tzolakis denied him. Iwobi later sent an effort narrowly wide before delivering a cross that led to Gonzalo García’s header striking the crossbar.
Fulham dominated much of the contest, registering 18 attempts to Hull’s five, while the visitors failed to record a shot on target. The home side’s inability to extend their advantage left them vulnerable late on.
There was late drama when substitute Ryan Sessegnon was sent off in stoppage time following a challenge on Hull’s Robinio Vaz. Fulham nevertheless preserved their narrow lead to take all three points.
The victory lifted Fulham off the bottom of the Premier League table and out of the relegation zone, providing a timely boost for Arbeloa after a difficult opening stretch.
