Late Pyramids Rally Sees Four-Goal Second Half Turnover Against Rivers United

Pyramids FC overturned an early deficit to dominate Rivers United 4–1 in their 2025/26 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League Group A fixture, completing a powerful second-half comeback to confirm their quarter-final qualification.

Rivers United stunned the reigning champions in Uyo when Stephen Manyo struck from distance in the first half to give the Nigerian side a surprise lead heading into halftime. But Pyramids emerged after the break with renewed intensity, quickly drawing level with a composed finish from Mostafa Fathy in the 52nd minute.

The momentum shifted fully in favour of Pyramids when a Marwan Hamdi penalty in the 77th minute put them ahead for the first time, and the visitors turned on the style in the closing stages with efforts from Odeh Al-Fakhoury and Nasser Maher to round off the scoring.

The result not only ends Rivers United’s campaign — leaving them bottom of the group with just one point — but also underlines Pyramids FC’s quality and experience, as they prepare for the knockout rounds with confidence.
