Liverpool FC delivered a dominant 4–0 victory over Galatasaray at Anfield, overturning a first-leg deficit to seal a 4–1 aggregate win and book their place in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.
On a night of high intensity and attacking brilliance, Liverpool completely outclassed the Turkish side, producing one of their most complete performances of the season to keep their European campaign alive.
Trailing 1–0 from the first leg in Istanbul, Liverpool started with urgency and purpose. Their pressure paid off in the 25th minute when Dominik Szoboszlai opened the scoring, setting the tone for a relentless attacking display.
Despite a missed penalty from Mohamed Salah before halftime, Liverpool showed resilience and composure, returning after the break with renewed intensity.
Second-half goals from Hugo Ekitiké, Ryan Gravenberch, and Salah completed the rout, with the Egyptian forward redeeming himself by scoring his 50th UEFA Champions League goal.
Galatasaray, who had taken the advantage in the first leg, were unable to cope with Liverpool’s pace and pressing, collapsing under sustained pressure at Anfield.
The night was further complicated for Galatasaray with concerns around Victor Osimhen, who had been instrumental in their campaign but was forced off before halftime due to injury, disrupting their attacking rhythm.
His absence compounded an already difficult evening for the visitors, who struggled to mount any meaningful response as Liverpool took full control.
Elsewhere, Atlético Madrid advanced to the quarter-finals despite a 2–3 second-leg defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, progressing with a 7–5 aggregate victory.
Tottenham produced an improved and spirited display in the return leg, but the damage had already been done in the first leg, where Atlético’s commanding performance gave them a decisive advantage.
Despite their late push, Spurs were unable to overturn the deficit, bowing out of the competition after falling short across the two legs.
The night produced contrasting fortunes for Nigerian stars. QqqAdemola Lookman progressed to the quarter-finals with Atlético Madrid, while Osimhen’s Galatasaray were eliminated after being overpowered by Liverpool.
Liverpool’s emphatic victory sets up a blockbuster quarter-final clash against Paris Saint-Germain, while Atlético Madrid will face FC Barcelona in another heavyweight encounter.
