Luis Enrique Welcomes More English Opponents as PSG Extend Unbeaten Run Against EPL Clubs

Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique has welcomed the prospect of facing more English opposition after his side defeated Manchester City 4-2, extending their impressive unbeaten run against Premier League clubs in European competition.

Luis Enrique praised Manchester City’s performance despite PSG’s victory, admitting the English side created significant problems and could consider themselves unfortunate not to have secured a better result.

“Man City created a huge amount of problems for us, and the team that lost today perhaps were a bit unlucky!” the PSG manager said.

The Spanish coach also expressed his enjoyment of competing against English teams, adding: “I hope we continue playing against English teams. It’s nice to come and see all of you.”

His comments followed PSG’s impressive Champions League victory at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday, October 14, when the reigning European champions produced a devastating first-half display before resisting a determined City comeback.

PSG Survive City Fightback

Désiré Doué, Ousmane Dembélé and Vitinha scored in the first half to give PSG a commanding 3-0 lead.

City responded after the interval through Erling Haaland, who scored twice, but Maghnes Akliouche restored PSG’s three-goal advantage before the Norwegian striker struck again.

Despite City’s late pressure, PSG held on for a 4-2 victory that reinforced their reputation as a formidable opponent in European football.

Luis Enrique acknowledged that his team needed to improve after allowing City back into the contest, even as he celebrated an important away win.

An Impressive Record Against English Clubs

PSG’s victory continued their remarkable unbeaten sequence against English opposition in the Champions League. The run has highlighted the French club’s growing ability to compete with and overcome leading Premier League sides on the European stage.

The streak is a significant achievement for Luis Enrique, whose PSG side have combined attacking quality with greater composure in major European encounters.

However, the manager’s praise for City also reflected how close the contest came to becoming more complicated after the break.

For PSG, the immediate task is to build on the victory while addressing the second-half weaknesses exposed at the Etihad. For their English rivals, Luis Enrique’s comments offer a reminder that he is more than happy to test his team against Premier League opposition again.
