Nigerian international Joy Ogochukwu Omewa marked a memorable Nottingham Forest Women debut by opening her goal account for the club in their WSL2 fixture against Birmingham City Women on Sunday, but her effort wasn’t enough to prevent a heavy 5–1 defeat for Forest.
The 23-year-old forward, who recently completed her transfer from Danish side Fortuna Hjørring, found the net just before halftime to briefly level the scoreline. Her goal — a composed finish that brought Nottingham Forest Women back on terms — was a shining moment in an otherwise difficult afternoon for the visitors.
Forest conceded early, with Birmingham City taking the lead through an own goal before Birmingham’s attack roared into life in the second half, adding multiple goals to seal a convincing win.
Despite the heavy scoreline, Omewa’s strike was a highlight for the Tricky Trees — her first goal since joining the club and a signal of her potential impact in English women’s football.
