Musiala Reveals Neurological Condition After Two On-Field Collapses

Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala has reassured supporters that he is “fine” after revealing that his recent collapses during pre-season matches were caused by brief, temporary episodes of absence linked to a neurological dysfunction.

The 23-year-old Germany international made the disclosure on Tuesday after suffering a second alarming episode within four days. Musiala collapsed during Bayern’s friendly against Heidenheim after coming on as a substitute, having experienced a similar incident during the club’s earlier pre-season meeting with RB Leipzig.

Musiala said the condition had been diagnosed by specialists and described the episodes as temporary and easily treatable. He stressed that, despite how frightening the incidents may appear, he had been assured there was “no additional health risk” and that he was receiving the best available medical care.

The Bayern forward also confirmed that he has been cleared by neurological specialists to continue playing football. According to Musiala, continuing with his normal life and pursuing his football career is a personal decision he made after consulting medical experts.

“First and foremost: I’M FINE!” Musiala said, while thanking supporters for their messages and assuring them that he remains optimistic about his recovery.

The latest episode occurred during Bayern’s 4-2 friendly victory over Heidenheim, just days after Musiala had gone down during the Leipzig match. The back-to-back incidents had prompted widespread concern, particularly given the midfielder’s previous injury problems.

Musiala said Bayern, his family and friends have continued to support him throughout the situation and indicated that he intends to keep focusing on football while remaining under specialist supervision.

He also appealed for understanding and privacy as he manages the condition, while expressing confidence that he is “on the right track.”

The revelation brings clarity to the circumstances surrounding the two recent incidents, although Musiala has not publicly provided further medical details about the neurological dysfunction. He has instead emphasised that he is receiving specialist care and has medical approval to continue his career.
