Atlético Ottawa have launched an urgent appeal to supporters after the club confirmed that the North Star Cup, the Canadian Premier League’s championship trophy, has gone missing following a fan event earlier this week.
In an official statement, the club revealed that the trophy disappeared during a season seat member kick-off event held on March 31 at TD Place, sparking concern and an unusual search effort involving fans.
The club confirmed that the North Star Cup was reported missing by staff at approximately 8:20 p.m., shortly after the event concluded. The circumstances surrounding the disappearance remain unclear, prompting the club to seek public assistance.
In its statement, Atlético Ottawa urged anyone with information to come forward as efforts intensify to locate the missing trophy.
“Please refer to the official club statement regarding the current whereabouts of the North Star Cup. All assistance in this matter is appreciated at this time,” the club said.
The club also disclosed that several individuals of interest have been identified from footage and images captured during the event. Supporters who may recognize anyone in the released visuals have been encouraged to contact the club directly.
The disappearance of the North Star Cup has raised eyebrows across the Canadian football community, given the symbolic and competitive significance of the trophy within the Canadian Premier League.
As the league’s ultimate prize, the trophy represents not just sporting excellence but also the growth of professional football in Canada. Its sudden disappearance from a controlled event setting has therefore become a matter of urgency for both the club and league stakeholders.
By turning to supporters, Atlético Ottawa have effectively transformed the search into a community-driven effort. The club’s call for assistance reflects both the seriousness of the situation and the strong connection between the team and its fanbase.
While no official confirmation has been made regarding theft or misplacement, the mention of “persons of interest” suggests that investigations are already underway behind the scenes.
For now, the focus remains on recovering the trophy swiftly and without damage. The club has not indicated whether law enforcement is formally involved, but the public nature of the appeal signals a desire to resolve the situation quickly.
