Nigeria will begin their title defence against Zimbabwe in the semi-finals of the 2026 Unity Cup after organisers confirmed the return of the four-nation invitational tournament to The Valley in London.

The competition, which celebrates football and diaspora culture, will run from May 26 to May 30, 2026, with Nigeria, Jamaica, Zimbabwe and India participating in this year’s edition.

The tournament returns to Charlton Athletic’s historic home ground for the first time since 2004 after the 2025 edition was staged at Brentford, where the Super Eagles emerged champions.

Nigeria will face Zimbabwe in the opening semi-final on May 26, in a fixture that renews recent rivalry following the teams’ encounters during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.

The second semi-final, scheduled for May 27, will see Jamaica take on India, while the third-place playoff and final will be played on May 30.

Nigeria Football Federation President Ibrahim Musa Gusau said the Super Eagles are targeting back-to-back Unity Cup titles.

“The Super Eagles will look to retain their title again this summer, while respecting the quality of the other participating teams,” Gusau said.

Tournament organisers said the event will again blend football with cultural celebration, featuring live entertainment, food exhibitions and fan activities throughout the three-day spectacle.

Zimbabwe will make their tournament debut, with Zimbabwe Football Association President Nqobile Magwizi describing the invitation as a major milestone for the Warriors.

India’s football federation also welcomed the opportunity, noting that the tournament will mark the Indian men’s national team’s first appearance in the United Kingdom in 24 years.

Jamaica return for a second consecutive year after featuring in the 2025 edition. Nigeria are defending champions after lifting the trophy in last year’s tournament in London.
