Arokodare scores again despite Ajax defeat
Tolu Arokodare continued his impressive start to life at Ajax by scoring in the 1-3 defeat to PSV Eindhoven in the Eredivisie on Saturday.
The Nigerian striker cancelled out Ricardo Pepi’s fifth-minute opener in the 23rd minute, finishing to bring Ajax level before PSV eventually reclaimed control of the contest.
Lutsharel Geertruida restored PSV’s advantage just before half-time, while Esmir Bajraktarevic added a third in stoppage time.
Arokodare started the match and was replaced by Kasper Dolberg in the 61st minute. PSV’s official match centre confirms his 23rd-minute goal and Ajax’s eventual 3-1 defeat.
Despite the defeat, the goal further underlined the Nigerian’s strong individual form since arriving at Ajax on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers. His continued scoring run is likely to intensify discussions surrounding his prospects of returning to the Super Eagles setup.
Kehinde stars as Bandırmaspor demolish Boluspor
Tosin Kehinde produced arguably one of the most spectacular individual performances of the weekend, scoring twice as Bandırmaspor crushed Boluspor 6-0 in Turkey’s 1. Lig.
The Nigerian winger scored Bandırmaspor’s fifth goal in the 37th minute before completing the rout in the 79th minute.
The two goals represented Kehinde’s first strikes of the 2026–27 campaign and helped Bandırmaspor end a four-match winless run in emphatic fashion.
The victory moved Bandırmaspor to nine points after six matches, while Boluspor remained without a point. Turkish reports confirm Kehinde’s two goals in the 6-0 victory.
Umeh maintains explosive start in Switzerland
Emmanuel Umeh continued his excellent early-season form for FC Zürich, scoring in the 2-2 draw against city rivals Grasshopper.
The 22-year-old Nigerian winger restored Zürich’s lead in the 80th minute with a superb finish, putting his side 2-1 ahead.
Grasshopper, however, rescued a point deep into stoppage time when Bujar Pllana headed home in the sixth minute of added time.
Umeh started and played 82 minutes before being substituted. The goal was his third of the Swiss Super League campaign, while he also has an assist. His recent run includes a goal and assist in Zürich’s 3-2 victory over Lausanne-Sport the previous weekend.

Solomon John delivers goal and assist in Czech Republic
Solomon John was another Nigerian to enjoy a decisive afternoon, registering a goal and an assist as Mladá Boleslav defeated Baník Ostrava 4-0.
John scored in the 52nd minute to put Mladá Boleslav 3-0 ahead before also playing a role in the fourth goal.
He completed 80 minutes as Mladá Boleslav secured a comprehensive victory. The Czech Chance Liga’s official player statistics credit John with one goal and one assist from the match.
It was another important attacking contribution from the Nigerian, who had already scored against Slovácko earlier in the campaign.
Ghali provides early assist for Sigma Olomouc
Ahmad Ghali Abubakar produced an influential display from the flank as SK Sigma Olomouc defeated Bohemians 1905 3-0.

Godwin Aguda Wanbe scored Falkenbergs FF’s equaliser in their 2-1 away defeat to IK Oddevold in Sweden’s Superettan.
Oddevold struck in the opening minute, but Aguda restored parity for Falkenberg in the 23rd minute after being played through by Melker Nilsson.
The Nigerian’s goal gave Falkenberg momentum going into the break, but Hugo Engström eventually restored Oddevold’s lead in the second half.
