Norwich City have completed the signing of Canadian international winger Ali Ahmed from Major League Soccer side Vancouver Whitecaps FC. The 25-year-old joins the EFL Championship club for an undisclosed fee, with Vancouver retaining a sell-on percentage.
Ahmed, who has earned caps with the Canadian national team, expressed his enthusiasm about the move. “When I heard about this opportunity, I was very excited. Speaking with the people here was very influential in my decision,” he told Canaries TV.
Norwich City’s sporting director, Ben Knapper, commented on the acquisition, stating, “Ali is a dynamic winger with a strong work ethic and technical ability. We believe he will be a valuable addition to our squad as we aim to strengthen our position in the league.”
Ahmed’s arrival comes as Norwich City look to bolster their attacking options in the second half of the season. The Canaries are currently positioned 22nd in the Championship, striving to improve their standings and avoid relegation.
The Canadian winger is expected to bring pace and creativity to Norwich’s flanks, offering manager Philippe Clement additional tactical flexibility.
The transfer is subject to international clearance, Right to Work and approval by The FA and EFL.
