Official: Griezmann to Leave Atlético for Orlando City in Blockbuster MLS Move

Antoine Griezmann will leave Atlético Madrid at the end of the season after completing an official move to Orlando City SC, with the transfer set to take effect in July 2026.

The deal, confirmed by both clubs, will see the French forward join the Major League Soccer side on a free transfer, bringing an end to a storied spell in Spain where he established himself as one of Atlético’s greatest-ever players.

Griezmann, 35, has signed a two-year contract with an option for a third season and will join Orlando City during the MLS summer window after completing the current campaign with Atlético Madrid.

Despite having a contract running until 2027, Atlético have agreed to allow the forward to leave as a gesture of appreciation for his long-standing service to the club.

The move marks the conclusion of a remarkable chapter for Griezmann in Madrid, where he became the club’s all-time leading scorer with over 200 goals and played a central role in multiple trophy-winning campaigns.

Since joining from Real Sociedad in 2014, he has been a defining figure under Diego Simeone, winning major honours including the UEFA Europa League and UEFA Super Cup.

For Orlando City, the signing represents a major statement of intent. The MLS side secures a World Cup-winning forward with vast European experience, reinforcing the league’s growing ability to attract elite talent in the latter stages of their careers.

Griezmann’s arrival is expected to significantly boost the club’s attacking quality, its global profile and commercial appeal in North America:

Before making the switch, Griezmann is expected to remain fully committed to Atlético’s ongoing campaign, with the club still competing in domestic and European competitions.

The forward has reportedly expressed his determination to end his Atlético career on a high, with potential silverware still within reach.
