Victor Osimhen has confirmed he will undergo surgery on a fractured forearm, dealing a significant blow to Galatasaray ahead of a crucial stretch of the season.
The Galatasaray striker returned to Istanbul after a short visit to Nigeria and immediately underwent medical evaluation, which confirmed the need for an operation on his injured arm. The injury is expected to sideline him for between five and six weeks, ruling him out of key domestic fixtures.
Osimhen sustained the injury during Galatasaray’s UEFA Champions League clash against Liverpool, where he suffered a fracture to his right forearm following a collision in the first half.
Initial examinations revealed the seriousness of the damage, and further hospital checks have now confirmed that surgery is required to properly stabilize the fracture.
Speaking about the situation, Osimhen acknowledged the necessity of going under the knife:
“I need to have surgery, my arm is broken,” he said, while outlining his expected recovery timeline of up to six weeks.
The Nigerian forward is expected to miss approximately 5–6 weeks, with rehabilitation likely split between initial recovery post-surgery, individual fitness work and gradual reintegration into team training.
Medical estimates suggest he could return sooner if recovery progresses well, but the club is expected to take a cautious approach given his importance.
Osimhen’s absence is a significant setback for Galatasaray, where he has been a central figure in attack since his arrival. The striker has been one of the club’s most reliable goal threats, and his injury comes at a critical point in the season.
His enforced absence will force manager Okan Buruk to reshuffle his attacking options as the club continues its domestic campaign, chasing back-to-back league title.
