Philip Otele opened his account for Hamburger SV, but his milestone goal was overshadowed as Borussia Dortmund produced a dramatic comeback to win 3–2 in a thrilling Bundesliga encounter.
Otele gave Hamburg the perfect start, tapping home in the first half to register his maiden goal for the club and put the visitors ahead.
Hamburg doubled their advantage before the break through Albert Sambi Lokonga, leaving Dortmund facing a two-goal deficit at halftime.
However, the hosts mounted a remarkable second-half response. Ramy Bensebaini pulled one back from the penalty spot before Serhou Guirassy equalised shortly after, shifting momentum firmly in Dortmund’s favour.
With the game heading towards a draw, Dortmund completed the turnaround late on as Bensebaini converted another penalty to seal a 3–2 victory.
The result extends Dortmund’s strong league run and keeps them within reach of the Bundesliga summit, while Hamburg were left to rue missed opportunities after a commanding first-half display.
For Otele, the goal marks a significant personal milestone, coming just days after his call-up to the Nigeria national football team, underlining his growing influence at club level despite the disappointing result.
