Brazilian football legend Roberto Carlos, 52, was hospitalized in São Paulo after a routine medical check revealed a heart issue. Initially seeking treatment for a leg concern, doctors discovered a small blood clot, prompting a full-body MRI that uncovered irregular heart function.
Carlos underwent emergency surgery to insert a catheter—a procedure expected to last 40 minutes but extended to nearly three hours due to complications. Despite the challenges, the operation was successful, and he is now in stable condition.
The former Real Madrid and Brazil left-back remains under observation and is expected to stay hospitalized for an additional 48 hours to ensure a smooth recovery.
Carlos, renowned for his powerful free-kicks and contributions to Brazil’s 2002 World Cup victory, currently serves as a Real Madrid ambassador. Fans worldwide have expressed relief and support for his recovery.
