Manchester City midfield star Rodri has found himself under scrutiny off the pitch after a series of complaints from neighbours who say his drone‑flying hobby may have crossed the line into an invasion of privacy.
Residents living in a Salford high‑rise building allege that a drone, reportedly flown by Rodri from his balcony, has repeatedly flown close to their apartment windows. Some tenants claim they spotted the drone just outside their windows late at night, leaving them “unnerved” and prompting them to contact both building management and Greater Manchester Police.
Images and videos circulating on social media and in building WhatsApp groups purport to show the 29‑year‑old on his balcony controlling the drone, raising concerns among neighbours that privacy and drone safety regulations may have been violated.
In response to the complaints, Greater Manchester Police confirmed that they have received reports and are currently making enquiries into the situation. Officers are expected to speak with the midfielder to clarify UK drone regulations, which include strict privacy protections and requirements for safe operation.
Rodri, who played a key role in Manchester City’s successful domestic and European runs, has not issued a public comment on the matter. The club has also declined to make an official statement as the investigation continues.
