RS Berkane demolished Rivers United 3-0 in their CAF Champions League Group A Matchday 6 clash at Stade Municipal de Berkane, securing top spot and a quarterfinal berth.
Youssef Mehri struck first in the 38th minute with a close-range finish from Abdelhak Assal’s assist, followed by Paul Bassene’s brace—first turning in Mounir Chouiar’s cutback at 43’, then heading home Ismael Kandouss’s delivery at 53’.
The Moroccans dominated with 55% possession and 22 shots (six on target) against Nigeria’s toothless four attempts, ending Rivers United’s continental dream.
RS Berkane, in their Champions League group stage debut, overwhelmed the visitors through precise build-up and relentless pressing. Rivers United struggled to create chances, offering no shots on target in a one-sided affair. The win caps a strong group campaign for the Orange Boys ahead of the knockouts.
