Senegal FA Appears Before CAF Disciplinary Committee Over AFCON 2025 Final; Verdict Expected Within 48 Hours

The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) has confirmed that it appeared before the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Disciplinary Committee on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, in relation to incidents arising from the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 final against Morocco.

In an official statement released from Dakar, the FSF said the hearing was prompted by match officials’ reports and objections submitted by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) following the controversial finale in Rabat.

A delegation from the Senegalese federation, led by its Secretary General and supported by legal counsel Maître Seydou Diagne, presented its case to the disciplinary body.

Head coach Pape Bouna Thiaw, along with senior internationals Ismaïla Sarr and Iliman Ndiaye, were also formally heard and given the opportunity to defend themselves regarding the matters cited by CAF.

The FSF’s statement confirmed that the CAF Disciplinary Committee has taken the case under deliberation. The final ruling is expected to be communicated within 48 hours, as stipulated by the disciplinary panel’s president.

This development prolongs the spotlight on the AFCON 2025 final, which saw Senegal defeat hosts Morocco 1–0 after extra time amid contentious moments that sparked debate across African football circles.
