FC Barcelona delivered a ruthless attacking masterclass, dismantling Newcastle United 7–2 at Camp Nou to seal an emphatic 8–3 aggregate victory and book their place in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.
The Spanish giants turned the second leg into a goal festival, showcasing a devastating blend of experience and youthful brilliance that overwhelmed their English opponents.
Barcelona struck early through Raphinha, but Newcastle responded quickly with Anthony Elanga leveling the score. The end-to-end contest continued as Marc Bernal restored Barça’s lead before Elanga grabbed his second to make it 2–2.
However, the turning point came just before halftime when Lamine Yamal calmly converted from the penalty spot, giving Barcelona a crucial 3–2 advantage heading into the break.
After the restart, Barcelona shifted gears and never looked back. Fermín López extended the lead almost immediately, before Robert Lewandowski struck twice in quick succession to put the tie beyond doubt.
Raphinha then completed his brace to cap a dominant performance, punishing defensive lapses as Newcastle collapsed under relentless pressure.
The night belonged to a perfect mix of emerging stars and seasoned finishers, Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski both netted braces. Lamine Yamal impressed with a goal and assist with young talents Marc Bernal and Fermín López also got on the scoresheet while Elanga’s brace proved a mere consolation for Newcastle.
Despite moments of promise from Newcastle in the first half, Barcelona’s attacking depth and composure proved decisive. The Catalan side now march into the quarter-finals as one of the most dangerous teams in the competition.
