Nigeria’s Super Eagles secured their place in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Round of 16 with a thrilling 3–2 win over Tunisia in Fez on Saturday. The match showcased standout performances from Victor Osimhen, Wilfred Ndidi, and Ademola Lookman, who collectively contributed all three goals and two assists.
Osimhen opened the scoring in the 44th minute, heading in a precise cross from Lookman. Shortly after halftime, Ndidi doubled Nigeria’s lead with a powerful header from a Lookman-delivered corner. In the 67th minute, Lookman added a third goal, finishing a swift counter-attack initiated by Osimhen.
Tunisia mounted a late comeback, with Montassar Talbi scoring from a set-piece in the 74th minute. A handball by Osayi-Samuel led to a penalty, which Ali Abdi converted in the 87th minute, narrowing the deficit to 3–2 .
Despite the late pressure, Nigeria maintained their composure and secured the victory, ensuring their progression to the knockout stages with a game to spare. They will face Uganda in their final Group C match, while Tunisia must defeat Tanzania to keep their tournament hopes alive.
