Valencia CF Femenino B coach Fernando Martín and his three children have tragically died in a boat accident off the coast of Indonesia. The incident occurred on Friday, December 27, 2025, near Padar Island in Komodo National Park, a popular tourist destination.

Martín, 44, was on a family vacation when the tour boat carrying 11 people—including his wife Andrea, their four children aged 12, 10, 9, and 7, four crew members, and a local guide—encountered rough seas and capsized. Waves reportedly reached nearly 10 feet in height.

Seven individuals survived the accident, including Martín’s wife and their youngest daughter, Mar, aged 7. The survivors were rescued by a passing vessel and search and rescue teams, and were treated in Labuan Bajo.

Valencia CF expressed deep sorrow over the loss, stating, “We are devastated by the tragic loss of our coach and his children. Our thoughts are with his family during this difficult time.”

Real Madrid CF also extended condolences, saying, “Real Madrid wishes to express its horror, and extends its condolences and deepest affection to his wife, Andrea, and his daughter, Mar, at this incredibly difficult time.”

Martín had a distinguished career as a central defender in Spain’s lower divisions before transitioning into coaching. He was appointed head coach of Valencia CF Femenino B earlier this year.

Indonesian authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, focusing on the boat’s seaworthiness and adherence to safety protocols. The tragedy has highlighted ongoing concerns about maritime safety standards in the region.
