Yanga Stand Firm as Al Ahly Settle for 1–1 CAFCL Draw

In a tightly contested CAF Champions League Group B showdown at the Amani Stadium, Young Africans SC and Al Ahly FC fought to a 1–1 draw, with goals from Ibrahim Hamad and Aliou Dieng ensuring both sides earned a valuable point.

In a clash marked by tactical discipline and sporadic chances, the Tanzanian champions Young Africans stunned the 12-time African club champions by taking the lead ust before half-time. Defender Ibrahim Hamad capitalised on a defensive lapse in first-half stoppage time to fire home from close range, giving the hosts a deserved advantage heading into the break.

Al Ahly responded after the interval, growing into the game and forcing openings. Their persistence paid off in the 60th minute, when Malian midfielder Aliou Dieng finished off a well-worked move, drilling the ball beyond the keeper to bring the visitors level.

Both sides pushed for a winner in the final half-hour, but disciplined defending and resilient goalkeeping ensured the match finished all square.
